The brief soliloquy
that was my last word.
left lingering in the
shadows with the mist
of my breath.
biting its tongue
from whispers of anguish
clenching their teeth
with forgotten remorse.
Sniffing the scent
of musty lost air.
with the sound of clamour
in a nominal chaos.
I see now –
(with my back to the world)
as my nerves twinge
with the anxiety,
of a less burdened futility
