Good morning! I hope you had an enjoyable weekend and that your week ahead is full of personal bests.
There are so many things in this world that you can get, or you can own, or you can tangibly achieve.
You can travel to Paris and Milan, you can eat at a 3-star Michelin restaurant, you can sky-dive, you can see the 7 wonders of the world.
These are all amazing things to do, or to try, to see, to taste, to hear, to own – but they are simply that.
They are things.
They do not make you, you.
Who you are as a person, what makes you who you are, and the reasons you are who you are, are not things to behold, own, or achieve.
Things are destinations, or fixed-points in our life.
Happiness is not a destination
Love is not a destination
Success is not a destination.
These are JOURNEYS.
We all just “want to be happy” or “want to be loved” – this is an incredibly common theme in life.
And, they’re fantastic things to want.
But these are not places to wind up or arrive at,
They are all paths you go down.
And sometimes you’re going to fall off those paths,
Sometimes you won’t be happy, or you may not feel loved.
This is the very essence of life.
This is what shapes you into you are today, and who you will be tomorrow.
Don’t seek to reach Happiness, or to arrive at Love.
Walk with them, not towards them.
These aren’t foreign entities that you have to search for – they are within you, they are beside you.
This advice isn’t easy or simple, but it is the corner-stone to creating a fulfilling existence with the time we have on this earth.
Cherish the experiences you have each day, good and bad, positive and negative.
Those experiences, and more importantly – how you deal with them,
Will put you on the path towards Happiness, or Love, or whatever sense of fulfillment you desire.
Forge your own path, love the journey (even the hard times) and be grateful for being able to walk it your own way.
The only destination in life is the end
Don’t strive for the end – you’re better than that.
Instead, enjoy the journey to get to wherever you’re heading – even if you can’t clearly see where that is.
There is a beautiful life in front of you – appreciate every moment.
Take a moment at some point this week and enjoy the path you’re on.
It’s a beautiful path, and it is yours.
And as always; Much Love, Smile On.
